FRP prices move with raw materials (glass fibre, resin) and freight, but for a buyer the more useful question is which specification choices change the price. This replaces several older pages on tube, rebar, grating and sheet pricing.

| Driver | Effect on price | What to specify or ask |
|---|---|---|
| Resin family | Polyester lowest; vinyl ester, phenolic and epoxy higher | Choose from the environment: resin guide |
| Fibre type and glass content | Carbon much higher than glass; more glass usually means more cost and stiffness | Fibre type, weight % glass, any mat or veil |
| Section weight (kg/m) | Material cost scales with weight; thick walls cost more | Wall thickness and tolerance (see square tube sizes) |
| New die (tooling) | One-time cost for a custom section, shared across the order | Annual quantity, section stability |
| Additives | Flame retardant, UV stabiliser, anti-static add cost | The standard and class you must meet |
| Surface and colour | Veil, gelcoat, paint and special colours add cost | RAL or Pantone, finish type |
| Cutting and drilling | Priced per operation | Lengths, hole patterns, edge sealing |
| Volume and packing | Larger runs lower the unit price; export packing and container fill affect freight | First order and yearly forecast |
Product notes
- Tubes and profiles: usually priced by length for a given section, and driven by kg/m. Ask for the kg/m of the quoted section so you can compare.
- Rebar: price depends on fibre type (glass vs basalt vs carbon), diameter, surface treatment for bond, order size and delivery distance.
- Grating: priced by area; depends on pultruded or molded construction, depth, resin, surface and fire requirements (see buying FRP grating).
- Sheets and roofing panels: thickness or weight per square metre, light transmission and UV protection, and profile (see FRP roofing and sheets).
How to compare quotes
- Fix the resin, glass content and finish so every supplier quotes the same thing.
- Ask for the kg/m (or kg/m²) and test reports of the quoted material.
- Compare the same trade terms (FOB, CIF) and payment terms.
- Treat a price far below the others as a specification question first: ask what has been reduced.
Frequently asked questions
Will prices fall or rise?
Glass, resin and freight costs move with the market; we do not publish forecasts. Ask for a quote valid for a stated period, and for the price basis (resin and glass).
